Got a bunch of celery you need to use up? Take 5 minutes to make whipped tahini, and you will gobble allllll that celery up in no time.
I get it: celery isn’t the most glamorous of veggies…but dang, it crunches!! Seriously, the way I LOVE a crunchy snack.
As a dietitian who wants nothing more than to get you eating more veggies, I’m gonna casually mention that celery is usually pretty affordable, so this healthy tahini-stuffed celery is a great way to get more plants on your plate.
Oh, and rediscover that half-used jar of tahini that’s in the back of your fridge (it happens to the best of us).
The first time I made this, I was trying to figure out some cute snacks using what I had in the fridge because I had friends coming over. I searched up celery recipes and found out that stuffed celery was a thing?!?
So I decided to make my own plant-based version of stuffed celery, which meant tahini of course. I was a kid who grew up with ants on a log, so it was the next logical step, ha! It actually turned out so dang crushable that I knew I had to share it with you.
If you’re new around here, my tahini obsession is on full display in my cookbooks (like Plant Magic !)
How I make this ridiculously yummy everything bagel celery snack
Grab your favourite storebought everything bagel spice, or, I’ve got notes on a DIY version you can make too.
The whipped tahini is inspired by the method used at Botanica, one of my fave LA restaurants. It sounds fancy, but really, it’s just seasoning tahini and adding a bit of water to it as it whirs in the food processor.
You could make a low FODMAP version of this whipped tahini sans garlic! There is only one trick to making the whipped tahini: you’ve got to drizzle the water in SLOWLY
Run out of celery before you run out of whipped tahini? Here’s what to do with the leftovers: use it as a veggie dip, sandwich spread, toss it with some pasta or thin it out with a bit of water or lemon juice and use as a creamy salad dressing.
Look out for the moment it goes from thick+ nut butter-ish to a pale and silky mousse. Then stop! I whipped the tahini with a little less water for the shoot yours will look silkier!
If you add too much water, the dip will get a bit thin. Fine if you’re using it for a dip but tricky if you want to stuff the celery.

Everything Bagel Celery Snacks with Tahini
Looking for a healthy, crunchy snack? These easy, everything bagel celery sticks are filled with a quick whipped tahini that you can also use as a veggie dip or sandwich spread.
Add the tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic to a food processor and start processing.
With the motor running, slowly drizzle in the water just until you see it transform from a thick paste to a silky, pale mousse. Then stop!!
Pop into the fridge to use later (it will firm up a bit as it chills) or stuff that celery!
You can spoon the tahini into the celery, or use a piping bag to do it. I like to leave a little room on one end to make it easy to grab.
No piping bag? DIY it! Add whipped tahini to a ziplock. Trim a ¼ inch from one corner and squeeze it out through the hole.
Sprinkle the stuffed celery with as much everything bagel seasoning as you wish. I know I gave you a measuring, but like, just measure with your heart.
Prep this easy whipped tahini for a whole week of healthy, crunchy stuffed celery snacks!
